About Sparrow Functional Fitness

I’m Mandy Self-Sparrow, owner of Sparrow Functional Fitness and a Functional Aging Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer, Tai Chi Instructor, Stretch Coach, and former Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Before opening Sparrow, I spent more than a decade working in occupational therapy and skilled nursing.

I saw how quickly a person’s world could begin to shrink after an injury, a new diagnosis, a fall, or a gradual loss of strength and confidence—and how often people were discharged from therapy before they felt truly ready to manage life on their own. I created Sparrow Functional Fitness to help bridge that gap.

This is not a crowded gym, and you will never be handed a cookie-cutter workout. Every session is built around your body, your abilities, your concerns, and the life you want to keep living—whether that means becoming steadier on stairs, recovering after a joint replacement, continuing progress from physical therapy, returning to pickleball, traveling with your family, or feeling confident enough to get down on the floor and back up again. I specialize in working with adults 50+, including people with balance concerns, joint replacements, Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, reduced mobility, cognitive challenges, and fear of falling.

At Sparrow, progress is not measured by how you look or how exhausted you become. It is measured by what you can do in your real life. My mission is simple: to help you become stronger, steadier, and more confident—so your world keeps growing instead of getting smaller.

Personalized Care

Every session adapts to your body, your goals, and how you’re feeling that day—never a cookie-cutter workout.

Judgment-Free

This is a calm, encouraging space where progress is never about competition or how hard you push.

Built for Real Life

Progress is measured by what you can do in your life—stairs, travel, getting back up—not how you look.
